Founded in 2014 by CEO Daniel Foster and a group of California-based investors, Alaf Farms is a high-end cannabis cultivator with wholesale and delivery services available in the greater Los Angeles area. Although they currently carry over 20 strains of flower and a small selection of vapes and shatter, they are looking to expand into edibles and a storefront in the future. According to Foster, Alaf is not trying to be anything other than a solid, loyal cannabusiness: “We want to be local to LA and cater to all the audiences LA has to offer, so we don’t want to pigeonhole ourselves in one specific area.”

The People

Alaf translates to “cannabis” in Farsi slang, and Foster was affectionately called Alaf by a business associate. A Southern California native educated in Northern California, Foster is mindful of the environment and the impact of growing cannabis. He learned to grow sustainably and organically and continues that commitment at Alaf, which grows indoors and recently set up a one-acre greenhouse. “Yes, we make money in this business, but it’s about respect and your word,” he imparts. With only one master grower, Alaf Farms stays local and farms on over 70,000 square feet across their first grow in Gardena, as well as newer indoor grows in Fullerton, La Habra and Riverside.

The Product

At Alaf, flower needs to meet standards of quality, not just come with great branding. “They have these cool names, but the quality has to be there — the genetics company helps,” Foster explains. Alaf’s relationship with Boss Status Genetics ensures such quality in their available strains, including El Chapo OG, their original (and super potent) indica, and varieties like Skywalker, Green Crack and Gorilla Glue #4. Such selection proves that Foster is exactly who he claims to be: a regular, local guy and genuinely nice businessman who loves to supply great cannabis to his clients.
