Bodhi High Family Farms – Spokane, WA

15 miles outside Spokane in Medical Lake sits Bodhi High Family Farms. This Tier II farm covered with hoops and greenhouses has been producing cannabis since 2015, creating products tailored for the more discerning customer. CEO and Owner Sam Kannell collected seeds for 10 years before helping to begin Bodhi High, and has used his collection to develop their amazing line of strains. He is always phenohunting for “unique, boutique phenotypes.” With a keen love of cannabis and holistic health, Kannell covets strains with beneficial effects beyond the standard THC buzz.

Bodhi High primarily produces and purchases cannabis for processing into their high-end line of hydrocarbon-extracted concentrates, but they recently started a line of flower, joints and infused products like tinctures and capsules. Kannell stressed that “quality and consistency is number one” for their team as they seek to create the finest products to heal customers. The grow team discusses and determines the best strains to pursue that may help with anxiety, PTSD or other physically debilitating conditions, and with over 50 years of combined growing experience it’s safe to say these guys know what they’re doing.

Kannell sees the Bodhi High team as “stewards or guardians of cannabis” against those who only see dollar signs. They believe there is a positive culture around cannabis that must be protected, and Bodhi High spreads that positivity by engaging with the community through local volunteer work. This is all possible through the support of a small group of founders who believe in the same goal of producing high-quality cannabis for the people—without outside meddling. Bodhi High’s passion is evident in everything they do, both in and out of the greenhouse.

Aaron Miller has been a contributing writer for Dope Magazine since January 2016. Since joining, he has produced numerous features reviewing the many different cannabis products the Washington cannabis market has to offer. Along with writing, Aaron has been working on the retail side of cannabis since 2015. While studying print and online journalism for 2 years, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Central Washington University in 2012. He has a passion for cannabis education and would love to see much more funding for research into the effects of the individual cannabinoids. One of the top items on his cannabis bucket list is to road trip across America and smoke a joint in every state. With the trend of legalization, he hopes to realize this dream sooner rather than later.
