Dani Billings began her professional career in cannabis in 2008 when she started Colorado’s first all-organic edible company, Tastee Yummees. Her brand experienced overwhelming success and quickly found its way into more than 300 dispensaries throughout the state.
Once hemp became legal and regulated by 2014, Billings teamed up with her dad to obtain the first U.S. hemp license and plant the first legal, successful hemp crop since prohibition. Thus began the Colorado Hemp Project, a business which specializes in genetics, farm consulting and industry development. Billings also works very closely with patients who suffer from ailments like tumors and epilepsy, and has witnessed the miraculous healing power of hemp for over a decade.
While gazing upon their first crop, Billings experienced a vision that set into motion an all-new direction for the hemp industry. With a background in massage therapy and esthetics from the Aveda Institute, Billings wanted to have a spa of her own and teamed up with her mother to establish the world’s first completely hemp-based spa — Natures Root. Nature’s Root provides a multitude of spa services and produces all-organic, cruelty-free CBD products such as lotions, scrubs, oils, tinctures, pressed tablets, salves and deodorant. That’s right, people — CBD deodorant. They even came out with a line of products specifically for pets! Billings has four dogs of her own, so it’s safe to say she has a soft spot for furry friends.
“Though she’s running multiple businesses and is regarded as one of the most prominent advocates and speakers in hemp education, Billings feels like she’s just getting started.”
Though she’s running multiple businesses and is regarded as one of the most prominent advocates and speakers in hemp education, Billings feels like she’s just getting started. Her products have received recognition on a global scale and have won multiple awards, both nationally and internationally. Not only is she continually coming up with new innovative products for Nature’s Root, but she also works closely alongside the Colorado Hemp Project to develop strategic partnerships in the name of hemp all around the world. She has ventures with multiple universities, as well as partnerships in nine other states from coast to coast. Billings was responsible for the first legal trade of hemp seeds between the U.S. and Jamaica, where she returns as a keynote speaker at the yearly Bob Marley Festival.
