Feetish Spa – Las Vegas, NV
One of the things that makes Las Vegas unique is its love of themed businesses. Only in Vegas can you find cowboy-styled restaurants or mock-mafia hangout bars. Fittingly, the downtown spa Feetish offers themed pedicures, including one that takes its inspiration from CBD and hemp products. Called “The Grateful Ped,” it includes a refreshing, green-tinted foot soak, as well as a warm stone massage, lavish use of CBD lotion and a hemp butter stick applied to dry areas. If you want to hear “Sugar Magnolia” or “Truckin’” while your tootsies are being groomed, that can be arranged, too!
“As far as I know, I’m the only one in town offering CBD spa treatments,” says Feetish owner Andrea Lipomi. “People are really enjoying the themed pedicures,” she adds. “At most places, a specialty pedicure is just a longer pedicure with a bath bomb. No one’s taking it to this level.” She wanted to offer these kinds of unusual treatments when she opened Feetish five years ago after working at resort spas on the Strip. The small, gothic-styled space is crammed with intriguing tchotchkes and unusual beauty products that lend themselves to exotic uses; another of Feetish’s themed treatments is “The Walking Ped,” which lets clients play zombie as they wiggle their toes in red-tinted pedi-gel.
“CBD and hemp are really nourishing. From a skincare perspective, they’re both really healing, anti-inflammatory and have self-regenerating properties,” Lipomi asserts. Those soothing qualities also make the pedicure ideal for those who have been on their feet all day, whether as a double-shifting cocktail waitress or tourist in see-it-all mode. Likewise, it can soothe lingering swelling or discomfort from an old sprain or tear.
The lotion is by Peacekeeper Cause-Metics, who produce a number of CBD topicals, and the moisturizing stick by Posh is “all-purpose. It’s got shea butter and hemp—good for lips, for face, for feet, head to toe,” explains Lipomi, adding, “it smells like the ‘90s—the early ‘90s—you’d go into a smoke shop, that incense-y smell. It takes me back to a good time.” While there are no psychoactive properties in any of the products used in “The Grateful Ped,” the pedicure does leave one in a most mellow state.
At Feetish, Lipomi offers a variety of other services, including facials, manicures and massages—although the latter has led to the occasional bewildering email from conventioneers who are hoping to get that kind of Vegas massage. “It’s almost a running gag at this point. I screenshot them and post them on my Facebook,” she laughs. “The weirder, the better.” Only in Vegas!
