Floyd’s Fine Cannabis – Portland, OR
Two stories. I thought I’d seen it all, but now I’ve been to a two-story pot shop. I don’t know why it’s so cool, it just is. Being the first at anything rocks, right? So, I was all excited to get to this shop and see cannabis taken out of the shadows and into the sky. Inside, hardwood floors and glass cabinet-topped bars beckon, loaded with shiny accoutrements: ash trays, glass elephant pipes, cannabis leaf earrings, purple ray-gun torches, even biking jerseys!
I drive a 1982 Yellow Datsun Pickup. (I know, you’re jealous.) Yellow being my favorite color, I was naturally drawn to the yellow stickers on their mason jars of flower, which identify them as the least-expensive nugs in the shop. Hello destiny, my name is E, nice to meet you! I’m a writer, hence financially challenged! I love that this shop uses a simple color-coded system: yellow = Datsun drivers, blue = Subaru drivers, green = fancy SUV drivers, red = Porsche drivers. Seriously, though, Floyd’s offers a comprehensive range of flower, concentrates and edibles for pain management or pure enjoyment, whether you wish to smoke, dab or imbibe.
Floyd Landis is a former professional American road racing cyclist turned cannabis businessman. He opened his first cannabis shop in Leadville, Colorado, in 2017, and only a year later purchased and rebranded three shops in the staunch cycling community of Portland.Landis says of The City of Roses, “Portland is a city that embraces all the things I love in life. An active outdoor lifestyle, so many bikes, great beer and don’t forget about legal weed. The whole package.” Landis is on a mission to market cannabis to active outdoor consumers, as well as to thosewho want an alternative to potentially addictive opioid painkillers. Don’t worry, though — good old-fashioned weed lovers are always welcome with open arms.
The knowledgeable and chill budtenders at Floyd’s are ready to provide their customers with inexpensive flower or something a bit more special at a higher price point. I liked them — I felt like I could say, “I’ve got $5, what can you sell me?” or, “I’m a cannabis virgin, be gentle,” or, “I want to get really stoned!” And they would take care of me with a smile. So, go be taken care of at Floyd’s! They’ve got you.
