Fweedom Cannabis – Seattle, WA
Back in 2013, I was shooting too many images and producing way too much content for a small bead shop on Aurora in North Seattle. The days were monotonous and borderline crushing for a young creative. Fortunately for me, I had Fweedom Cannabis. During my break, I could walk just a couple blocks to the shop and always be met with friendly faces, knowledgeable budtenders and top-shelf products.
You might be thinking, “That was 2013, who cares?” Six years later, not much has changed at Fweedom. Their consistency is refreshing in a constantly shifting, ever-evolving industry. Many of the business relationships founding co-owner Sky Nielsen and his crew developed in the medical days have transitioned over to the recreational side, a true testament to the dedication Nielsen and his team at Fweedom have to their patients and customers: getting good people the good stuff that they’re used to!
It’s hard to find a more knowledgeable staff than the team Fweedom has curated. The team is not only knowledgeable about the effects of the cannabis plant and all its forms, but also the brands producing these products. Nielsen told me that he and his fellow co-owners held off the 502 market with a medical designation for as long as they could to give their patients the quality and level of support they needed. This move has proved to be quite fruitful as the shop transitioned into being a medically-endorsed recreational dispensary, and they kept many of their clientele in the process. This loyalty also extends to Nielsen’s staff at Fweedom, as many of the faces I’ve seen since 2013 are still there!
Recently coated in a masterful rendering of a nebula galaxy by local artist Weirdocult, the building exudes a sense that, whatever you leave this place with, it’s going to take you to the next level. Walking into the shop emboldens this sense even more with beautiful wall-to-ceiling murals, huge neon-accented showcases and a modern, muted color theme that ties everything together in a clean, but not overly-sterile, environment. Keeping true to their medical roots, Fweedom is medically endorsed and has medical marijuana consultants on staff at each of their three locations (oh, did I mention they have equally awesome locations in Mountlake Terrace and Mount Vernon?). Go check them out!
