Green Dot Labs – Boulder, CO
Green Dot Labs was founded in 2014 by power couple Dave and Alana Malone, and has quickly become a staple in the Colorado concentrate community. Their business reached new heights last year after launching a strategic partnership with cannabis investment firm Tuatara Capital, L.P., raising $3.3 million to build a state-of-the-art cultivation facility and extraction lab, fueling expansion in Colorado’s recreational market. Green Dot Labs is the only garden I know of that grows and produces purely for extraction, and the chance to step foot in their garden was an honor and a privilege I won’t soon forget.
Tucked away in the outskirts of Boulder, Green Dot Labs’ recreational facility sets the industry standard for everything from compliance to cleanliness and quality. Dave Malone explained how symmetry was at the forefront of the design and infrastructure of their facility, which utilizes a hydroponic, organic hybrid cultivation system. With over 80 strains in production, space optimization is key. Automated pulse feeding and a unique lighting setup are a few crucial components that allow Green Dot Labs’ exponential growth and increased resin yields. I followed Dave and Alana through the garden in absolute awe, absorbing as much information as I could while trying not to look like a kid in a candy shop. I can only dream of growing flower worthy of their extraction services.
If you think Green Dot Labs’ live resin smells good, just imagine stepping foot in their garden! The first flower room was like entering a Willy Wonka-esque resin factory. My nose was greeted (nay, blasted) by the smell of fresh, juicy terpenes, and the flowers themselves were nothing short of overwhelming. Known for having some of the tastiest genetics on the market, it was a real treat to get an up-close look at some of their most coveted strains: Fatso, Reba Jam, Fuzzy Navel, Member Berry and Bottle Wash, to name a few. You could literally see the resin production on various strains, and the oils from the plant remained on my glove after the slightest touch. I don’t use this word lightly, but the garden was flawless. The Malones showed off each room with well-deserved pride, and the passion for their craft was evident in every corner of the facility.
