The Happy Crop Shoppe: Elevating Wenatchee Valley Since 2014

The Happy Crop Shoppe – Wenatchee, WA

The Happy Crop Shoppe in East Wenatchee, Washington, was one of the state’s first ten recreational stores to open in 2014. Since then, they’ve opened two more locations in the valley—one in Downtown Wenatchee and one in Cashmere. Each store has its own distinct vibe. East Wenatchee is warm and homey the moment you walk in. Downtown is sleek and refined. And Cashmere has a more playful vibe, with old-school High Times covers decorating the walls. All three stores offer a welcoming, educational experience with medically-endorsed staff. Located near Leavenworth, the Mission Ridge Ski Area and the Gorge Amphitheater, The Happy Crop Shoppe is a favorite for locals and tourists alike, and was voted “World’s Best Cannabis Store” for the last two years by readers of The Wenatchee World.

The People

The Happy Crop Shoppe is owned by a tight-knit group of partners passionate about cannabis. Two of the owners, Allie Jordan and Cory Wendt, met with me to tell me a bit about themselves and their business. Allie’s favorite part of this journey has been helping people in her community. “We get people thanking us all the time for being open,” she says. “Recently, a man came in with his grandkids to celebrate his 90th birthday. Things like that remind us of why we’re doing this.” Cory calls the shop “the Cheers of weed stores,” and it’s easy to see why. Nearly everyone that walked through the doors during our interview seemed to know somebody there, and were greeted with a warm welcome and revelry.

The Product

The Happy Crop Shoppe is dedicated to their region and local growers. Cory was eager to show off brands like Manna Productions, from Wenatchee; Evergreen, from Monitor; and Sysco Pancho, from Peshastin, who puts out one of Cory’s favorite new strains, Zenex. But they don’t limit their stores to local producers. Cory pulled out a jar of Dutch Treat by Black Label, from Tacoma. “They produce top-shelf quality and we can get it at a great price,” he says. “We can’t keep them on the shelf.” All in all, The Happy Crop Shoppe provides unique, high-quality products that you might not be able to find anywhere else—especially if you’re coming from out of town. And with their medically-endorsed staff and dedication to helping people, they’re a rock-solid resource for the Wenatchee Valley cannabis community.

Everyone’s got a story. Mine is that all my life, I’ve managed to attract and surround myself with the most fascinating, unreal individuals, who challenge my sense of what’s possible and what life is all about. Cannabis does that too. This industry is made up of brave, fiery souls who dare to venture beyond the norm. Our subculture spans all demographics and defies generalization. And I get to write about it! Being able to tell the stories of the people I meet, and how we’re all connected through this amazing plant is a dream come true.
