[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_column_text]Do you ever look at your life and wonder what your teenage self would think of it? If you’d told fifteen-year-old me living in a rural town in central Pennsylvania, that one day I’d be living in Southern California, writing and teaching about sex and cannabis for a living, I would have laughed out loud and then probably called you a liar. Possibly questioned your sanity. Fifteen years ago I was conservative, Catholic, had never lived outside of Pennsylvania and thought cannabis was (I cringe as I’m typing this) a path to the devil. I’ve since abandoned all of those beliefs. These days, my life looks wildly different. I am the CannaSexual™.
If I look closely, I was always a sex educator, even before I knew that was a real job. I was the person that my friends would ask about periods and condoms, and I was the one who was always comfortable talking about masturbation. The cannabis focus was entirely unexpected. I moved to Los Angeles in August of 2013 and obtained my medical cannabis recommendation a few months later. It was a game changer—the quality was impeccable, the strain selection was vast and the effects were powerful. Not too long after, I heard that some company (Foria) was making a THC-infused coconut oil sex spray. The lightbulb clicked on in my brain. No other sex educators are talking about their experiences with sex and cannabis, or how to combine them to elicit desired results, I thought to myself, ‘What if I did field research on the effects of cannabis on my sex life, chatted with others about theirs and educated about how to incorporate sex and cannabis mindfully?’ And what would I even call such an endeavor? That’s when the concept of CannaSexual™ manifested. Since then, I’ve hosted a cannabis-friendly sex party (which followed my 30th birthday party in April), taught a workshop at the first ever Cannabis Wedding Expo and even had a sleepover with legendary adult performer Nina Hartley. My sex life? Never better.
Brené Brown, author of Daring Greatly and one of my favorite humans, wrote, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” This blog is about me owning my story and finding worthiness in it. My hope is that you’ll be inspired to own your story too. Some of my stories will challenge you. They’ll challenge your beliefs and your values. Some of them will thrill and excite you. Some of them may even make you feel things you weren’t expecting to feel. Leave me a comment, hit me up on social media and check back every Wednesday for more blog posts![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
