The future of cannabis is female! December is DOPE Magazine’s Women’s Issue, and we wanted to continue to highlight women across the industry on all of our platforms. We sent a questionnaire to outstanding women in cannabis — some familiar to us, some new — and will be showcasing their answers in individual blogs this month. Today’s story highlights Jenn Tramaglino, founding partner of Cannect Hospitality.
DOPE Magazine: Who are some of your greatest role models?
Jenn Tramaglino: I have so many incredible influences and mentors in my life it’s hard to narrow it down! My mother & father definitely are the reason I have the drive to own my businesses and understand what it takes to live for your work. During my career I have been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the best in their industries who have created legacy brands; Andy Masi, Elizabeth Blau, Sean Christie, David Tran and James Zachodni are all peers I look up to and respect on so many levels.
What’s your go-to self-care routine?
My newest self-care routine has been taking Change By Day CBD as a daily dose. I had been preaching the good word of CBD to everyone but wasn’t really taking it myself every day. Now, I take on average 25-50 mg of CBD daily at minimum and it’s been life changing.
Favorite “guilty pleasure”?
Salt water taffy! I cannot stop eating it once I start and especially if there’s a bag of all the different flavors, I have to know what the next delicious surprise taste is going to be!
Where do you see your career or business headed in five years? Twenty?
The Five-Year Goal: Have created a worldwide network of brands, venues and experiences that can carry us into …
The Twenty-Year Goal: Being on an island and enjoying a billion dollars with all my best friends and family members.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A lawyer, a writer, a teacher, a marine biologist and married to Michael Jackson.
If you could talk to yourself five years ago, what advice would you give?
Get more Bitcoin and wait to sell them until December 2017!
What advice do you have for other women looking to get into the cannabis space?
Be confident. Own your great ideas and your shitty ideas, Own the wins and own the L’s. They’re all a part of the process. Grow with each step and be fearless in your pursuit of the goal.
Recommend a book, album, and movie you think everyone should read/listen to/watch while stoned!
Ok it’s a four-step method that was passed down to me; 1. Take just a tiny bit more edibles than you normally do. Wait 30 minutes. 2. Put on “Blue Planet” — on mute. 3. Put on Alt-J 4. Sit back and enjoy the show!
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Magic is something you make” is a quote I live my entire life by. I don’t know who said it, but it’s so true. If you do nothing, nothing will happen. If you do everything, magic always will be happening all around you.
What’s your favorite cannabis product?
Glacé Bon Bons are my all-time favorite edibles. State Flower Cannabis grows the cleanest flower and I love their Granddaddy Purple strain. For vape cartridges it’s a toss-up between W Vapes and VVG.
What’s the one thing you would bring if you were stranded on a desert island?
What do you want to see in possible national legalization of cannabis in America?
I hope to see national legalization with the least amount of constrictive business regulations as possible. It’s always a struggle for me to want more regulations, so we clearly know the do’s & don’ts, while also feeling like there’s way too many don’ts. When we are working in the regulated Social Use space we are now opening up public consumption to the non-experienced consumer and the laws and rules are going to be what keeps these guests safe. So, we need them, and Cannect is trying to work closely with those putting them into place so we can best represent the business community from the inside out.
Fill in the blank: I could never live without ________
What’s your smoking or cannabis consumption ritual?
I like smoking out of a bong or rolling joints the most. I appreciate a vape during the workday, but nothing compares to freshly cleaned glass and a green bowl!
