What does it mean when your business makes Fast Company’s Most Innovative list? For starters, making the list is a rare feat. Of the thousands of companies considered for the honor, only a small percentage make the cut. When doling out the annual awards, Fast Company considers (among many other coveted characteristics) product innovation, creative innovation, timeliness, cultural impact and context.
Fast Company selects honorees by sector, including Advertising and Marketing, Data Science, Design and Enterprise and more. One sector, introduced in 2016 as Enterprise Software, is now simply known as Enterprise. Household names such as Amazon, Microsoft and DocuSign are just a few recognizable companies who have made this list in previous years; with alumni of that caliber, it’s no wonder LeafLink making the 2018 “Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Enterprise” list has caught attention not just from cannabis insiders, but from those interested in the future of revolutionary software platforms as well. Built specifically for the cannabis industry, LeafLink offers cannabis brands and retailers the opportunity to streamline their wholesale ordering.
As a media company dedicated to normalizing the plant and bringing credibility to the industry, DOPE is excited to congratulate LeafLink for representing cannabis on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list. LeafLink’s Co-Founder and CEO, Ryan G. Smith, shared with us that this recognition means a lot for the cannabis industry, particularly as it pertains to the invention of untapped, enterprise-level software opportunities. Smith goes on to say that, in an industry as progressive and young as cannabis, companies like LeafLink have a rare opportunity to set new standards in tech innovation. The hope is that future tech designers will look to LeafLink as a driving force behind creative enterprise application software.
Smith and Zach Silverman, LeafLink Co-Founder and CTO, know they can’t rest on their laurels quite yet. They’re excited for the recognition, but at the end of the day the two are humble and remain focused on the ever-changing needs of the cannabis industry. LeafLink currently serves “over 450 brands and 2,000 retailers across six states,” including Organa Brands, Wana, Kiva, Venice Cookie Company, Dosist, Zoots, Dixie, Incredibles and Apothecanna, with no intention of slowing down. By the end of 2018 the company will launch into its 15th U.S. state “and build a variety of new features to serve its growing client base,” according to LeafLink’s press release. The team at LeafLink is on track for an annualized $500M in orders through their marketplace, equaling roughly eight percent of all legal wholesale cannabis sold in the U.S.
