Lightshade Dispensary – Denver, CO
Lightshade is an industry leader with eight stores in the Denver area. I recently stopped by their Dayton location and swooned over the store’s layout and aesthetic. The first thing you might notice inside are signs that break down different feelings or social situations; these placards are for customers to identify which effects they desire from their cannabis product, then choose from a corresponding selection of strains. Located right down the road from the Windsor Gardens retirement community, they host regular cannabis education forums specifically for senior citizens! Their next event will be led by Dr. Joseph Cohen, who will discuss using cannabis to reverse cognitive decline.
Lightshade prides themselves on an intense 90-day Manager-in-Training program, which allows their employees to progress and develop their careers within the company. They’re also currently developing a new greenhouse to facilitate in-house cultivation, and are excited to report the new greenhouse is based on more sustainable and environmentally ethical growing practices than their previous methods. A few of these changes include: a reclamation system, which allows Lightshade to recycle water and nutrients that aren’t consumed by the plants; a commitment to using LED lights, as well as more natural light from the sun; and not treating their plants with non-organic pesticides. They’ll also make the switch to fully-recyclable packaging for their flower in the next few months.
Lightshade keeps their customers coming back for more with their constantly rotating sales and specials, like $15 eighths and $99 pre-packaged ounces of flower. As I mentioned earlier, their strains are categorized by more than just sativa or indica markers; patients have the option to choose between Enliven, Inspire, Calm and Rest, and can find a strain with various terpenes and cannabinoids to induce their desired effect. Lightshade concentrates are made with in-house flower, and their edible selection is pleasantly diverse. A few products that stood out to me included the new Coda Signature bath bombs, Mary’s Medicinals CBD Remedy and a hemp seed oil tincture from EndoCanna. I also love their pre-rolled joint tins, which are made with whole bud cannabis—not just shake or trim!
