The Top 4 Nfl Players Who Smoke Weed: It’s No Secret These High Paid NFL Stars Love Cannabis

We’re now in the lull period for the NFL. While all the coaching vacancies are officially filled, the next stop in the offseason is the NFL Scouting Combine.

NFL front offices might be hard at work preparing for free agency and the draft, but the superstars are recovering and, hopefully, enjoying their much-needed time off. Fans of certain players are hoping that they aren’t having too much fun.

The offseason is a time where NFL teams and fans hope their favorite players stay out of the headlines. Unfortunately, the NFL drug test policy is still archaic, and some of the best players in the league get busted for smoking weed.

Here are the four best current football players who have been on the wrong end of the rule.

Le’Veon Bell

Arguably the best running back in the league, Le’Veon Bell is one of two Pittsburgh Steelers who earned a ban in 2016 for smoking cannabis. After missing the first three games of the season, Bell emerged as the star of the Steelers’ offense. In just 12 games, Bell notched nearly 1,900 yards from scrimmage.

Bell is known for smoking so much weed that the NFL apparently gave the Steelers star a “random” drug test on April 20th – aka 4/20.

It seems those who suffered most from Bell’s marijuana suspension were fantasy football owners.

Martavis Bryant

Bell’s teammate in Pittsburgh, Martavis Bryant was suspended for the entire 2016 season for failing a marijuana drug test. And even without the talented wide receiver, the Steelers reached the AFC Championship Game. Can you imagine if Pittsburgh did have Bryant, along with Antonio Brown and Bell? The Steelers would’ve put up a much bigger fight, that’s for sure.

Bryant, still just 25, will have to prove that he can stay out of trouble in 2017. If he can, then the AFC will be a lot more competitive.

Von Miller

In 2013, Miller was suspended six games for smoking weed. The chicken farmer (seriously) originally was suspended four games before the NFL tacked on two more. However, the Broncos apparently didn’t miss him too much, as they went undefeated during his ban.

Miller has rebounded nicely from his suspension, winning the Super Bowl 50 MVP award in 2016.

Josh Gordon

Unfortunately for the unbelievably talented Josh Gordon, marijuana has been a major factor in derailing his career.

Gordon has been suspended multiple times in his young career, including back in college. When he is on the field, Gordon is an absolute monster, scoring 14 touchdowns in his first two seasons.

Gordon hasn’t played in an NFL regular season game since 2014, after getting suspended for the entire 2015 season and the first four games of the 2016 campaign.
