Rogue Raven Farms – Shelton, Washington
Rogue Raven Farms is a Tier III producer/processor based in Shelton, Washington. Boasting a massive 45,000-square-foot facility, you may be pleased to hear — as I was — that Rogue Raven Farms is family-owned and operated, and doesn’t have the same type of corporate investment backing that has plagued many other grows of this size. Director of operations Debbie Van Driessche told me the core of the team at Rogue Raven Farms are actual family and friends, and that sentiment couldn’t be more evident while touring the facility. Whether I was in one of the more than half a dozen flower rooms, two mother rooms or in their back processing facility, everyone — plants included — seemed to enjoy being there.
One of the often-overlooked aspects of the transition from the medical cannabis market to recreational are the truly therapeutic benefits that the plant can offer. I’m not here to argue its efficacy; however, I do believe the type of energy put into growing cannabis can be equal to its therapeutic benefit. Hand-watering, hand trimming and a growing system that enables everyone at the farm to know exactly what to expect before walking into a room all lead to the consistency Rogue Raven Farms strives for, and ultimately achieves. With a catalog of over 50 strains and precise cultivation techniques, Rogue Raven Farms is on the forefront of large-scale production and industry-leading quality.
Aside from taking extra care during their cultivation and curing processes, senior sales manager Dean Martin told me that Rogue Raven Farms weighs out their packaged flower on the heavy side to ensure consumer satisfaction. Their product range also impresses, from bath bombs that Martin assures are “mess-free” to a recent partnership with Northwest Pearl to produce the solventless rosin-dry sift “Jeffrey” joint. I’m particularly excited about their high-fraction terpene extract cartridges, which boast a relatively high THC content of around 50 percent while retaining all the flavorful terpenes traditional dabs are known for.
