Urban Farmacy – Portland, OR
The Urban Farmacy dispensary sits on .12 acres of land (a “typical,” modern-day 50’x100’ lot) in Northeast Portland at the unbelievably ironic address of 420 Northeast 60th Avenue—no joke. The universal term for getting high is the true numerical address for this shop built in 1900, which looks like it came straight out of a historical book on farming. It’s even painted barn red. The owners of Urban Farmacy capitalized on the history of the building by designing the interior in a rustic fashion; the countertop is fronted with chicken wire, shelving is built in and onto hog wire fencing, while racks holding product are encased in frames of antique saw blades.
I have to confess, I’ve had a crush on this shop for years. I’m the stereotypical vegetarian-gardener-Portlander with five chickens, two goats and a pig named Pearl. Maybe I’m a bit outside the 420 stereotype, but I love dispensaries that carry cool stuff! For example, their Herban Tribe Fresh Pressed Orange Juice is kept ice cold—perfect for mimosas on one of these warm Sunday mornings. The super friendly farmhands—I mean, budtenders—recommend their always in-stock Jilly Bean flower, which they guarantee will make anyone a “happy and giggly” customer. “We hire budtenders who are kind and compassionate, who have a welcoming vibe,” affirms manager and owner Margo Sperry.
With on- and off-ramps to I-84 less than half a mile from the shop, a MAX stop a quarter mile away, the #19 Tri-Met Bus line 50 feet away, and their very own parking lot behind the building, this has got to be the most easily accessible dispensary in Portland. Whether you’re heading to the coast or to the mountains, stop by and meet the crew at Urban Farmacy—they’ll outfit you with whatever you need!
