Winberry Farms – Wilamette Valley, OR
Dustin, Kevin, BJ, Danny and Johnny. No, they’re not an up-and-coming cannabis boy band —although how cool would that be? They are the five original co-founders of Winberry Farms. Dustin Jessup and Kevin Spence were old friends who decided to enter into the cannabis business when recreational use was legalized in Oregon. Jessup’s family had some property perfect for growing cannabis and a cousin, BJ Maks, with a background in design and construction who helped build the farm. Danny and Johnny rounded out the boy band — I mean, business — with their knowledge of medical cannabis production. Now the farm employs 30 people and has expanded into California! Amazing what a few friends can do with some sun, fresh air, clean water and quality cannabis.
Located roughly 30 miles southeast of Eugene in the Willamette Valley, Winberry Farms grows all-natural cannabis outdoors with water from the pristine Winberry Creek, hence the name of the farm. The area was historically forest land with ties to the logging industry; it was purchased by Jessup’s family in 1993 as a place to build a secluded vacation cabin. Twenty-six years later, this protected valley, pocketed away from other agriculture, remains a perfect setting for growing cannabis.
Winberry Farms’ slogan, “vape the rainbow,” indicates just how many strains they offer consumers. Winberry has multiple THC and CBD distillates in sativa, indica and hybrid varieties for whatever you’re looking for: pain relief, or to enhance a round of golf, animated movie, sushi, walking your goats … maybe that’s just me? They have all-in-one “Travelers,” vape pens complete with battery and cartridge, ready to go wherever you go; Proto-S distillate shatter; full-spectrum, cold-pressed flower extract; and Terp Jelly full-spectrum concentrate. They also make as many battery cartridges as there are personalities, including a Variable Temp pen, a WinStick and a Palm variety. This little Willamette Valley farm produces cannabis magic for everyone for anything. Check them out in both Oregon and California!
